Throughout November and December 2008, the province of Lucca, Tuscany, is staging a programme of events to celebrate the 150° anniversary of the birth of its famous son, the composer, Giacomo Puccini, born in the town of Lucca in 1858.

The programme starts on the 21 st November with a production of Manon Lescaut at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca and continues up till the 20 th December with a series of exhibitions, conventions and concerts dedicated to the memory of the great maestro.
