The Toprural Research group, specialized in analysing the Italian farm holiday market (agriturismo) has published the results of its recent research on prices in the various Italian regions. The cheapest region was found to be Trentino Alto Adige, where an average room per person in a rural location costs 29,7, followed by Basilicata (30,8) and Calabria (33,7). The most expensive region was (unsurprisingly) Tuscany with average cost per night of 51,8. Umbria at 44,9 was closely followed by Puglia at 44,6.

The average price for a farm holiday in Italy came out at 39,9 per person per night, somewhat higher than the equivalent accommodation in Spain (33,3) and France (29,3).

Toprural was founded in 2000 and is the leading European internet research portal for agritourism and rural holiday accommodation, registering over 1,5 million visits per month.
