ACQUALAGNA TRUFFLE FESTIVAL

 

The 25 th edition of the Acqualagna Summer Black Truffle will take place on the 2 nd August 2009. The town of Acqualagna (province of Pesaro and Urbino, Marche region) is considered to be the world capital of truffles, accounting for two thirds of national production (an estimated 56-60 tons). The summer black variety  of less costly than other varieties of the coveted Acqualagna delicacy found throughout the year - will fill the historic Piazza Mattei with its characteristic pungent odour . Visitors can also participate in truffle hunts in the surrounding woods with local guides. The Summer Black Truffle Festival is in addition to the more famous Acqualagna black and white truffle festivals in the autumn and in February.

The event will also give visitors the opportunity to explore the nearby Nature Reserve of Furlo, rich in wildlife, including wolves, badgers, deer and eagles.
