The long overdue restoration of the great amphitheatre of Pompeii and its re-opening to the public will be celebrated with a concert on the 10 June 2010, performed by the Youth Orchestra Luigi Cherubini and conducted by Riccardo Muti. The concert, organized by the San Carlo Opera House of Naples, will be the first in a programme of international cultural events planned for the coming season, with the aim to give a fresh injection of life into Italys most important archaeological site.
