TREADING THE OLD ROMAN ROADS

A series of interesting itineraries along the 13 old Roman Consular roads have been published online by the Civita Association, with the backing of Romes Provincial council and the Rome Chamber of Commerce. Civita lists over 180 places of interest to be seen along the routes, including archaeological sites, historic towns, landscapes and art treasures.

The project comprises the publication of a book: Treasures along the Roman Consular Roads, history, art and landscapes in the Province of Rome, as well as the website Treasures around Rome (www.tesorintornoroma.it ) in Italian, English and German, with iphone explanations Tesori in un palmo di mano (Treasures in the Palm of Your Hand) in Italian and English.

The initiative is aimed at visitors who like to travel slowly, savouring the experience of exploring off the beaten track.
