The seaside resorts of the Adriatic Riviera kick off their summer season of non-stop holiday fun with the traditional Notte Rosa 2011 (Pink Night) on the 1 July. This is the sixth edition of the now-famous all-night event, involving 110 kms of beach and coastline of Emilia Romagna.
The Pink Night offers visitors a selection of 300 happenings from dusk to dawn, including outdoor concerts, art exhibitions, street entertainment, dance, magic shows, cabaret and firework displays, based on this years theme of Dreams The star of the night, however, is expected to be the cruise ship Costa Favolosa the latest Costa cruise lines luxury liner, which will glide past Cattolica with all its lights blazing, recreating the passage of the Rex in the Fellini film Amarcord.
Gastronomic specialities will not be lacking. The official seasonal drink will be the Martini Royale, a stylish cocktail blend of Martini Rosato and Martini Sigillo Blu Prosecco DOC, while celebrated Rimini pastry chef Roberto Rinaldini has created the Bomborosa, a special variation of the sugar-coated cream-filled bun traditionally bought off stand s and eaten hot after a night of partying on the beach.
