Siena in the heart of Chianti-land  is staging a six-month event for wine lovers between the 24 November 2012 and the 5 May 2013. Organized by the Siena provincial government and the Tuscany Department of Archaeological heritage, the event is promoted as a blend of culture and taste.
The 24 November kicks off with the Third Forum of Italian Wine, during which the TOP TEN wines will be awarded . The Enoteca Italiana is setting up an exhibition on the history of wine from remote times to the present in its seat, the Medici Fortress, including a reconstruction of an typical ancient Roman triclinium, set up for the banquet. For the first time, the precious grave goods discovered in the necropolis of Bosco le Pici at Castelnuovo Berardenga will also be on view. Another exclusive archaeological work of art, the 650 BC cinerary urn of Montescudaio, showing a banqueting scene, can also be admired in the ancient Siena hospital of Santa Maria della Scala. Until May, the exhibition is spread throughout  the museums of the principal wine producing towns of the area, such as Castellina in Chianti, Chianti Senese, Castelnouvo Berardenga, Montalcino, Montepulciano, San Gimignano and Santa Fina.
