edition of the Venice Biennale of Art will train the spotlight on one of
Venice’s great craft traditions the production of silk. The Venice Pavilion
of the 55 th International Art Exhibition, which will run from the 1 June to
the 24 November 2013, takes as its theme the “Silk Map” and pays tribute to the
centuries-long traditional trade between East and West, of which Venice was the
fulcrum.<o:p></o:p></font></span></p><p>

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"><font face="Calibri">Five
artists from the East and West have been selected to display their skills and
compare their weaving techniques, creating six exclusive works for the pavilion
and the city. Coordinated by artistic director Ewald Stastny and promoted by
the important cultural organization Fondaco Venezia, the exhibition is expected
to revive great interest in the “soft art” which is still carried on in Venice by
renowned crafts workshops such as Bevilacqua, Fortuny and Rubelli.<o:p></o:p></font></span></p><p>
