LAKE NEMI CANADIAN THANKSGIVING

Carpfishing Lago Di Nemi

Lake Nemi near Rome and the ruins of the Roman Temple of Diana were the unusual setting for a Canadian Thanksgiving celebration on Sunday, 20th October 2013. Organized by Italo-Canadian Federica Zavaglia in the picnic park Giardini di Diana on the lakeside, some thirty guests of various nationalities enjoyed a banquet centred round the traditional Thanksgiving fare of turkey and pumpkin. During the day, archaeologist Carlo Cusan, who had taken part in the recent excavations of the Temple zone, took a group of visitors on a tour of the remains, which have now been partially uncovered up to a fourth level on the slopes of the Nemi volcanic crater, revealing constructions and areas previously unexplored.
