Alta Langa DOC

CIBUS, the leading showcase of Italian gastronomy, will hold its 17th edition in Parma between the 5-8th May 2014. The 2012 event hosted 2,300 stand-holders and attracted 63,000 professional visitors. With the introduction this year of the new section “Cibus Bollicine”, dedicated to wines and spumantes, organizers are confident that they will repeat the previous success.

Recently, CIBUS was present in Cologne, Germany, at Anuga (German Universal and Beverage Exhibition) trade fair, with 1000 Italian food producers represented.

Italy is the EU leader for quality food products, according to the latest ISTAT (National Statistics Office) report, “Noi Italia”, with 248 certified DOP (Denomination Origin Protected), IGP (Protected Geographic Indication) or STG (Traditional Specialty Guaranteed) products, compared with 192 French products and 161 in Spain registered.

On the 7th March, CIBUS will be in Japan to promote Italy’s gastronomic products. In 2013, the organization toured major international food exhibitions in Russia, Thailand, Brazil and the USA. Food is now one of Italy’s major money spinners. 40% of the total production is exported, with Europe the main market (62.5%), followed by the USA (10.65%), achieving a turnover of €27 billion in 2013 an increase of 6.55% over the previous year.
