EASTER IN ITALY'S MOST BEAUTIFUL GARDENS

 Â

Where better to celebrate the Easter holiday than in one or other of the thousand most beautiful Parchi e Giardini Italiani (Italian Parks and Gardens)? Most of them are at their most splendid at this time of year and organize events for the whole family, such as egg hunts, entertainment or simply strolls among blossom trees, floral displays and landscaped woodland.

A few examples:

Villa La Pescigola a Fivizzano, Massa Carrara (Tuscany) which offers a vision of 400 varieties of daffodils, some of which extremely rare. On the 20th and 21st April the Narcissus Festival will include egg hunts and fun for the family.

Giardino della Kolymbetra, Valley of the Temples, Agrigento (Sicily), where visitors can walk to the ruins of the Temple of Vulcan through the orange blossom groves. Picnic baskets will be available for purchase, filled with typical local products.

Rocca Sanvitale di Sala Barganza, Parma (Emilia Romagna), organizes two special days of guided tours, expanded to include the Farnesiano Garden, considered the fortress' jewel.

Villa della Pergola, Savona (Liguria), only recently re-opened to the public, is famed for its 20 varieties of wisteria, flowering thorn bushes and its rare roses.
