The 433 members of the Venice Gondoliers Association have now adopted a standardized uniform with a new logo incorporating typical symbols of their trade, including the distinctive gondola iron comb bows and the lion of St. Mark on the banner of the Serenissimo Republic.

The uniform is supplied exclusively by the historic Venetian clothing company, Emilio Ceccato, Al Duca D'Aosta group. (founded in 1902),

Souvenir items of the branded striped polo shirts and the characteristic wide-brimmed hats with dangling ribbons can be purchased at the Emilio Ceccato showroom under the Rialto Bridge. All profits will be re-invested in projects to safeguard and preserve the traditions and profession of the Venetian gondoliers. The first initiative will be the construction of a new Gondolone for the city. Officially known as a barchetta da parada (public transport gondola), the vessel will be used to transport up to 14 standing passengers across the Grand Canal. The gondolone will be built in the time-honoured manner at the official Venetian gondola yard (the squero), thus helping to keep the traditional craft of gondola building alive.
