The Marche Region is celebrating Pope Francis' Jubilee of Mercy with four major exhibitions of sacred art. (St.) Francesco in Art. From Cimabue to Caravaggio is on show in the Civic Art Gallery of Ascoli Piceno until the 30th June 2016.
Palazzo Campana at Osimo is the venue for an exhibition of Counter-Reformation art and the Marche School, a selection of works on view to the public for the first time from the private collection of one of Italy's foremost art critics: Lotto, Artemisia, Guercino. The Secret Rooms of Vittorio Sgarbi, running till the 30th October 2016.
Autumn treat from the 3rd September 2016 - 8th January 2017 at the Ancient Treasure Museum of the Holy House of Loreto, concentrated on the figure of St. Mary Magdalene Between Sin and Repentence from Duccio to Canova.
From the 29th October 2016 - 29th January 2017 the Ducal Castle of Senigallia hosts the exhibition of icons and images of Mary, Mater Misericordiae on show at Krakow, Poland, for International Youth Day (26th - 31st July).
In addition, after a five year closure for restructuring work, on the 9th June 2016 Ancona re-opened its Art Gallery in Palazzo Bosdari with its collection of paintings from the School of Ancona, which flourished between the 14th and 15th centuries.
