The Orchestra Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival celebrates the 90-year landmark of the foundation of its world-class orchestra on the 9 December 2018. The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino was Italy's first musical festival. Founded by Vittorio Gui in April 1933, it is held annually in Florence during the spring months.

The orchestra, instead, dates to the 9 December 1928 and quickly made its mark on the world stage. Bruno Bartoletti, Riccardo Muti and Zubin Mehta have all been held the orchestra baton. The present director is Fabio Luisi. During the past 90 years, 536 celebrated guest conductors from all over the world have performed with the orchestra.

The festivities include the rare opportunity to visit the opera theatre, with the auditorium, backstage, dressing-rooms and the cavea in a day-long series of guided tours. In the afternoon, a special performance of "La Traviata" at a fixed price ticket of 10 is programmed.
