IMPOSSIBLY RAPHAEL!

Raffaello Sanzio - Wikipedia

The Marche Regional government has chosen an unusual venue for the exhibition Raffaelo una Mostra Impossibile (Raphael, an Impossible Exhibition) that anticipates the commemorations for 500th anniversary of the death of the great Renaissance artist in 2020. The exhibition, in fact, is in the local airport of Raffaelo Sanzio at Falconara Maritima (Ancona), named after the artist, who was born in nearby Urbino. The choice of the airport for the exhibition was guided by the desire to introduce art works to a wider public, and especially young people or those who do not generally go to museums or art exhibitions, explained Moreno Pieroni, the regional government's representative for culture and tourism. The title of Mostra Impossibile alludes to the fact that many of the works are actual-size reproductions of some of the artist's most famous paintings, which are scattered around museums in 17 different countries. The exhibition gives an exclusive opportunity to compare works which are kept far away from each other. The reproductions are in high definition, printed on transparent material and illuminated from behind in order to show the master's handwork as clearly as possible. The exhibition runs until the 6th January 2020, after which it will go on tour throughout Europe, starting with La Carrousel du Louvre in February 2020.
