Donnafugata, one of Italys most innovative and dynamic wine producers, has now branched out into olive oil. The new product, an extra-virgin olive oil called Milleanni (Thousand Years) is derived from indigenous cultivars in the Sicilian Belice Valley, where olives have been harvested for in fact - thousands of years.

Sicilian vintner Donnafugata produces 12 high quality IGT or DOC wine labels, based on indigenous Sicilian vine varieties, including the internationally acclaimed red Mille e Una Notte, as well as DOC Moscato and Passito from their vineyards on the island of Pantelleria.

The company, owned and run directly by the Rallo family, made international headlines in August 1998 when they introduced for a first for Italy - the practice of harvesting by night the grapes of their Contessa Entellina vineyard, to ensure that the grapes did not start the fermentation process under the hot Sicilian sun during transportation to the cellar.
