TURIN INTERNATIONAL FOOD FAIR

 

 

Italys biggest annual food and wine fair, the Salone Internazionale del Gusto, will be held in Turins Lingotto Fiere exhibition halls between the 23 rd to 27 th October 2008. The Fair is an acclaimed showcase for the variety of quality foods and wines from the various regions of Italy, highlighting niche local products along with well-known made in Italy gastronomic specialities that have already captured the world market.

The 3 rd meeting of Terra Madre, the international community of food movement, will also be held in Turin, contemporary with the Fair. The encounter, organized by the Slow Food movement, along with the Italian Agricultural Ministry and local authorities, will feature food products from 154 countries, with 3,587 farmers, fishermen and breeders taking part, along with 818 chefs and 265 university lecturers. This years edition will be dedicated to young farmers and breeders who are working to preserve quality food and rural values. In addition to stimulating the senses of taste and smell, the encounter will also cater to the ear, with 216 musicians present to liven up the event with traditional songs from agricultural communities around the world.
