In addition to the exposition of the Holy Shroud (10 th April to 23 rd May 2010), the city of Turin offers an extensive programme of exhibitions and events this spring. Considered Italys capital of contemporary art, the focus is on design and art of the 21 st century . Subjects range from modern art and architecture to the ceramics produced by the Lenci company, best known for their dolls, now highly prized by collectors.
For an overview of the art world of the 21 st century, the best place to head for is the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e contemporanea (GAM), which is running two exhibitions on the theme (Underground Project and Keep Your Seat) until the 23 rd May 2010, with a wide range of works by international contemporary artists.

For something guaranteed to broaden the mind, the Museum of Everything (Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli) is running a show of works by non traditional artists, including mediums, mystics, self-taught artists, visionaries and disabled craftsmen. From the 1 st April till the 29 th August.

Turins golden years are displayed in the Sala Bolaffi, with the exhibition Torino Sperimentale 1959-1969, which opens with director Roberto Rossellinis film Torino nei 100 anni (the Hundred Years of Turin, on loan from the famous Turin Cinema Museum. A particularly interesting section is dedicated to Italia 61, when the first centenary of the Unification of Italy was celebrated in Turin with a number of revolutionary architectural projects designed by Italys top architects, such as Pier Luigi and Antonio Nervi and Gio Ponti (Palazzo del Lavoro ďż˝ Palace of Labour), Annibale and Giorgio Rigotti (Palazzo Vela The Sail) and the panoramic Alweg Monorail.
