SLOW FISH 2011 AT GENOA

Home - Slow Food Liguria

Slow Fish, the Slow Food movements bi-annual appointment with the world of fishermen, the sea and the river, opens at the Genoa Fair on the 27 May 2011. During the three day event, special attention will be given to the problems of small-scale fishers, who are increasingly finding it more and more difficult to survive in the global market.

At the Slow Fish fair, consumers will have the opportunity to join in the debates with dieticians, biologists and researchers at the 18 Water Workshops, where issues such as sustainable fishing, consumer health and the problem of establishing provenance and traceability of fish sold directly to the public will be examined.

The ever-popular Taste Workshops feature 20 appointments, covering  conservation, nutritional  advice and production, as well as offering information about lesser-known fish and controversial species like eels and oysters.  Opportunities to sample fish abound and can be as casual or as formal as you wish. The Taste Islands in the restaurant area serve seafood dishes to be eaten standing or while walking around, while sit-down meals of special regional dishes are available at the Osterias of the Sea group of restaurants.

Slow Fish runs until the 30 May.
