ALTO ADIGE: REMEMBERING THE ICE MAN

To mark the 10 th anniversary of the discovery of Otzi, the Ice Man, a mummified prehistoric huntsman found above the Niederjoch glacier in the Val Senales, the Archaeological Museum of Bolzano is holding a special exhibition dedicated entirely to what is believed to be the oldest mummy in the world, dating back 5,300 years.

In addition, up until October 2011, the Alpine Guides Association is organizing excursions on the glacier to visit the place where Otzi was found.  More leisurely trips for the whole family are also being offered by the ArcheoPark association, in collaboration with the Nature Park Gruppo di Tessa (also known as the Valley of the Larches) throughout the summer. Themes include: On the track of Otzi, Little Botanists and The Primeval Forest of 5,300 Years Ago.

For information: Otzi20 Exbibition at Bolzano runs till 15 January 2012
