MURANO GLASS FOR COLLECTORS

Murano Glass Trix - Murano Glass - Made in Italy Masterpieces ...
Anyone thinking of Murano glass as beads, miniature animals or old-fashioned chandeliers should think again. The glass masters of the Venetian island are constantly reinventing themselves and at the top end of the scale, Murano glassware is for collectors only, who are prepared to pay for something exclusive.

The Moretti glass factory, owned by brothers Carlo and Giovanni, have made a name for themselves by producing exclusive glass sculptures. Their creations are now exhibited in museums all round the world and are eagerly sought after by the rich and famous.  Among others, Bono possesses Carlo Moretti wine glasses and Elton John purchased Giovanni Moretti Monolite sculpture, which caused a sensation when it was exhibited at the Palazzo Ducale as part of the Venice Biennale some years ago. To make the Monolite, Giovanni Moretti invented a new glass-making technique involving the fusion of little glass bricks.

The Moretti family has been making glass for generations and are believed to be the inventors of the familiar murrine beads, used in necklaces and other jewellery. Visits to their showroom and workshop can be arranged and you can also apply to become a member of the Friends of Carlo Moretti Club.
