REGGIO EMILIA- FEAST OF FIVE SENSES

Eurohistory: June 2019

Count and Countess von Holstein Pallavicino are to open their splendid Castello di Scipione to host a special event on the 2 July 2012 that involves a feast of the five senses. The manor house, near Salso Maggiore spa, crowns the Colle del Sale (Salt Hill) above the valley of the Stirone Park, which is traversed by the ancient Salt Route that once brought the precious commodity to Rome.

The evening includes a guided tour of the castle with its newly restored '600 frescoes and trompe d'oeil decorations as well as a candlelit dinner under the loggia, prepared by four leading Italian chefs.

The chefs are collaborating for the first time to prepare a menu centred on traditional regional specialities and products. They are: Gian Paolo Raschi, from the Ristorante Guido-Miramare, Rimini, Valentino Marcattilii, the San Domenico, Imola, Isa Mazzocchi of La Palta-Borgonovo Val Tidone (Piacenza) and Massimo Spigaroli from the Antica Corte Pallavicina in Polesina Parmense (Parma).

Symbolic of the indomitable spirit of the people of the Reggio Emilia region, the evening, organized by the Association of Castles in the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza in collaboration with the Chef to Chef emiliaromagnacuochi, will go ahead as planned despite the recent earthquake tragedy that hit neighbouring territory.

The event will be repeated in September at the Castello di Rivalta on the Trebbia River, followed by a Grand Finale on the 15 October at Rocca Sanvitale di Fontanellato.
