HIGH HOPES FOR BRUNELLO HARVEST

The Tuscan region of Montalcino, home of one of Italys most famous wines, the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino, embarkson the wine harvest this week. Producers are confident that this years vintage, although 10% less than average, will yield a high quality wine.

Fabrizio Binocci, President of the Consortium, which groups 250 producers, declared that while the exceptionally hot, dry summer had originally given some cause for concern, the recent rains had created the ideal conditions for ripening.

The Brunello di Montalcino consortium averages a turnover of 150 million annually.
