THOUSAND- YEARS- AGO PIZZA

The town of Herculanum near Naples,  famed for its archaeological remains of the former city  swallowed in the fateful Vesuvius eruption that also obliterated Pompeii, has invented the Archaeological Pizza, as an additional tourist attraction.

The pizza is baked in a special conical- shaped oven that recalls the form of the volcano and is built of lava stone brought from Vesuvius. The pizza itself is prepared  according to the rules of ancient Roman cuisine, using suet and pepper.
