TOURISM AT PERUGIA JOURNALISM FESTIVAL 2013

The seventh edition of the annual  5-day Perugia Journalism Festival (24-28 April) saw the participation of over a thousand prominent journalists, bloggers and media professional from all over the world, who spoke on a wide spectrum of themes during a packed programme of debates.

One of the opening sessions put the focus on the importance of travel writing and tourism development in Umbria, known as Italy's Green Heart, in the round table discussion Ms Umbria, I Presume, moderated by journalist and communications expert Federico Fioravanti at the Centro Servizi G.Alessi on the 24 April.

The panel consisted of writer Ian Campbell Ross from Trinity College, Dublin, Rome-based photo-reporter Chris Warde-Jones, journalist/author William Ward, food & wine writer Valentina Harris, food & travel writer Christine Smallwood and journalist/author Margaret Stenhouse, with the participation of the Turismo Regione Umbria Councillor, Fabrizio Bracco.

The group subsequently participated in a three-day promotional tour of some of the lesser known areas and treasures of Umbria region, hosted by UmbriaSi, visiting Perugia, Panicale, Spoleto with  UNESCO World Heritage site the Basilica of San Salvatore, the Lake Trasimeno area and the Valnerina valley with the ancient Abbey of San Pietro in Valle and the Marmore Falls.
