FLORENCE: SPARROW WINS BRAND CONTEST

Reconstruction of the Ancient Greek Long Jump - an Opportunity for ...

The competition launched by the Fondazione Parchi Monumentali Bardini e Peyron (Monumental Parks Foundation) to design a new brand image on the theme A Logo for Beauty attracted around 3000 designs, of which 300 from 62 foreign countries. The winning design, by the Italian architect Rita Benincasa Amato, depicts a sparrow (symbolizing Nature) landing on an ancient vase (art and culture). Organizers believe that the new logo will help give the historic villa, which also contains the Roberto Capucci Foundation and the Annigoni Museum, a more incisive image.

Villa Bardini has a magnificent position  just under the scenic Michaelangelo Belvedere, overlooking the Arno river. The gardens alone attract 100,000 visitors per year. The villa is open to the public every day with an accumulative ticket that gives access also to the Boboli Gardens, the Gallery of Costume, the Silver Museum and the Museum of Porcelain.
