PUCCINI FESTIVAL BY THE LAKE

Summer is the time of Festivals. The Puccini Festival the only festival entirely dedicated to the celebrated Italian composer - has been running for sixty years at the small town where the maestro created some of his best loved operas, like “Tosca”, “Madame Butterfly”, “La Fanciulla del West”, “La Rondine” and the “Trittico”.

The 3,400-seat Great Open Theatre of Torre del Lago, now re-named Torre del Lago Puccini, is situated near the picture-postcard Lake Massaciuccoli, in the heart of a park adorned with contemporary art works by sculptors such as Pietro Cascella, Jean-Michel Folon and Kan Yasuda. The house where Giacomo Puccini lived, and which is now a museum dedicated to the composer, is nearby.

The Festival begins on the 25th July with a new production of “Madame Butterfly” and continues until the 30th August 2014, featuring “La Boheme”, “Turandot” and the “Trittico” (“Tabarro”, “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi”).
