CERVETERI CELEBRATES 10 YEARS UNESCO SITE

The celebrated Etruscan Necropolis of the Banditaccia at Cerveteri (Lazio) celebrated its 10th anniversary as a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE site this summer with the inauguration of a new road that takes visitors directly to the archaeological site from the town centre, While the previous route meandered around the countryside, the new road links the two areas at a comfortable walking distance.

Cerveteri mayor Alessio Pascucci, who is also the Vice President of the Association of Italian UNESCO Heritage Sites, announced with satisfaction that the necropolis had had a considerable increase in visitors over the previous year, thanks also to state-of-the-arts audio visual aids installed in some of the tombs, greatly enhancing the visitor experience.
