Three Italian confectioners won first place in this year's La Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie, competing against twenty-one other teams from all over the world. Emmanuele Forcone from Abruzzo, who was also the 2014 champion, Francesco Boccia from the province of Naples, the 2013 bronze medallist, and Fabrizio Donatone from Ciampino (Rome) swept the boards in the Salone Internazionale della Ristorazione in Lyons (France) with their delicious and imaginative creations.

The team, consisting of a master confectioner, a chocolate-maker and an icecream-maker, laboured for ten hours preparing their entries before an enthusiastic audience of 2,700 people.

This is the seventh time that Italy has notched up successes in the contest, with 2 gold medals (2015 and 1997), 2 silvers (2011 and 2009) and 3 bronzes (2013,2007 and 2001).

The competition is considered to be the world's top contest in the confectionary field.
