The luxury 5-star San Pietro Hotel is a well-known landmark on the Amalfi Coast. Perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the town of Positano, it is celebrated as being one of the most beautiful hotels in the world. However, not content to rest on its laurels, the Carlino family, owners of the San Pietro, have embarked on an ambitious programme of renovation and restyling to create six new suites.
The San Pietro is immersed in a splendid botanical garden, planted on terraces suspended above the sea. The decor throughout , cotto floors, hand decorated Vietri ceramic tiles, handmade lamps, antique furniture and precious upholstery materials has been designed by the architect Fausta Gaetani (RG Studio Designs) using local craftsmen.
San Pietro has been part of the Relais & Chateaux group since 1989. In 2001 its Zass restaurant gained its first Michelin star, under the guide of executive chef Alois Venlangenaeker. In 2008, the Carlino Restaurant (named after the hotel founder, Carlino Cinque) was created on the beach for more informal dining. This restaurant is accessible by sea or by the spectacular lift which descends through the heart of the rock.
The Carlino restaurant is the chosen venue for the fund-raising charity dinner San Pietro is to hold on the 7th July 2015 in favour of the Safe Passage Foundation.
Guests can enjoy the unique gastronomic experience of the two top chefs - Alois Vanlangenaeker and Norbert Niederkofler - competing to show off their skills.
