Carmagnola (Piemonte) stages for the 66th year running its lively Sagra del Peperone (Sweet Pepper Festival) between the 28th August - 6th September 2015. Connected events stretch over a 10-day period, with a succession of cultural and gastronomic happenings that include cabaret theatre, dance, pop and jazz concerts, folklore shows, sports competitions, art exhibitions and seminars on farming issues.
For the first time, the Festival has an area dedicated to the neighbouring Alto Adige region, with an Alpine-style hut selling typical products and a Taste Laboratory offering cooking classes and workshops.
The highlight of the event is, as always, the Parade of King Peperone and his companion, the beautiful Povronera, with their train of hundreds of followers in fancy dress and period costume. Last year's Festival attracted an estimated 250,000 visitors.
