Visitors who missed the first weekend of the annual truffle fair at San Giovanni d'Asso (Tuscany) can catch up on the busy programme of events during the second weekend - 14-15 November 2015.  The area, famous for its unique lunar landscape of grey clay hills, known as the Crete Sienese, is also home to one of the best varieties of white truffles in Italy.

Truffles grow wild in the woods and visitors can sign up to join one of the expert truffle searchers and watch the dogs at work. This year's produce is deemed to be of excellent quality and market  prices are expected to reach anything between 2000 to 4000 per kilo.

San Giovanni d'Asso can be reached by the ancient Etruscan road, Via Laurentana, that wends through the unspoiled countryside of the Crete, while steam train buffs can take the Treno Natura (Nature Train), leaving from Grosseto on Sunday 15th .
