Six historic sites in the Lake Trasimeno area (Umbria) provide an unforgettable backcloth for the series of concerts featuring in this year's Trasimeno Music Festival, directed by well-known Canadian concert pianist Angela Hewitt.
Between the 30th June - 6th July, music lovers can enjoy a feast with performances by the Giuseppe Verdi Symphonic Orchestra of Milan, the Cremona Quartette and international solo artistes Matthew Sadler, Pieter Wispelwey, Jeffrey Tate, Alessandro Carbonare, Giovanni Scaglione, Susan Bullock (soprano) and Simon Callow (narrator). Many of the nine concerts and recitals have been composed especially for the occasion.
The venues involved are: the Basilica of San Pietro at Perugia, the Castle of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta at Magione, the San Domenico Auditorium at Foligno, the Clitunno Theatre and the Church of San Francesco at Trevi and the Signorelli Theatre at Cortona (Tuscany).
In addition, visitors can attend a recital by the pupils of the Angela Hewitt Third Piano Master Class on the 12th July at the Mengoni Theatre, Magione.
