The 2019 Chinese New Year is to have a special celebration in Rome and Milan. Between the

2–10 February the high fashion boutiques around Piazza di Spagna (Rome) and Via Montenapoleone (Milan) will have special window displays on Chinese themes as a tribute to visitors from China.

China, in fact, accounts for over 30% of Italian exportation of luxury goods, according to event promoter Andrea Amoruso Manzari, who has already reaped a success with the special luxury Vendemmia format last autumn 2018.

China is the foremost international buyer in the Italian fashion and luxury sector, with 34% of presences per year.  Therefore an event tailor made for the Chinese market offering a unique shopping experience represents an ideal opportunity to cement links between Chinese visitors and Italian fashion, Amoruso Manzani declares.

Shopping is not the only attraction offered in this novel edition of Chinese New Year (more correctly known in the Orient as the Festival of Spring). There will be a special performance by artist Liu Bolin in the Galleria Borghese on the 7 February, while 30 of the artist's celebrated mimetic photographic works will be displayed in various parts of Rome's luxury triangle round Via Condotti.

The event, coordinated with the Cultural Department of the Chinese Popular Republic in Italy, Rome city council, the Grand Hotel Plaza and other specialized organizations, aims to encourage visitors to the Eternal City to extend their stay, with plans mooted to revamp and promote key shopping areas like Via Veneto, the street made famous in La Dolce Vita, Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, just off the central Via del Corso and Via Giulia, the former antiques paradise.
