One of the best places for Christmas fun is the Magico Paese di Natale (the Magic Christmas Town) at the Royal Castle of Govone (Torino), in the heart of the celebrated wine country of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. The biggest Christmas Market in Italy, it has been voted into the ranks of the top European Best Christmas Market destinations. During the past 13 editions, the market has spread till it now occupies 45, 000 sqm, with 117 selected stalls and, naturally a Santa Claus House. A major attraction is the vintage Centoporte train, dating from the 1920s, connecting Govone with Turin and Milan. On the return journey, passengers are served with a glass of spumante from the Asti DOCG Consortium and snacks of award-winning Valgrana cheese. The Magic Christmas Town is open at the weekend until the 22nd December.
