To celebrate the 90 years of the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro, born at Morciano di Romagna (Emilia Romagna) in 1926, the city of Milan is offering a unique itinerant exhibition distributed among various venues, which allow visitors to trace the artist's formation and development.

A series of early bas reliefs in lead, silver and cement dating from the 1950s are on show in the Hall of the Caryatids in the Royal Palace, while the Piazzatta Reale displays the “Pietrarubbia Group”, one of the Maestro's most famous works - begun in 1975 and finally finished in 2015 – and seen here in all six parts for the first time. Preparatory sketches, studies and sculptures in fibreglass and steel are on view at the Fondazione Marconi.  Visitors can also admire his great bronze “Disc” installed in Piazza Meda,  chosen this year by the Milanese as the symbol of their city. Another celebrated Pomodoro sculpture, the “Spiral Tower”, stands in front of the Piccolo Theatre.

The theatre has always been one of Pomodoro's loves and 16 of his miniature theatres, created between 1982 and 2009, are in the Museo Poldo Pezzoli, where he was responsible for the restoration and the new look of the Sala delle Armi in 2000.

The exhibition runs until the 5th February 2017.
