CASTELLO DEL CATAJO RE-OPENS

Visitare il Castello del Catajo

The Castle of Catajo, Battaglie Terme (Padua), re-opens its gates again with a three-day programme of Carnival events. On Sunday, 2nd March 2014, visitors will be able to meet the “ghosts” of its former aristocratic residents in the splendidly frescoed salons and on the Great Terrace.

The castle is considered to be one of Italy’s most splendid noble houses and its gardens feature in the list of the Most Beautiful Parks and Gardens in Italy. Built by the Marquis Pio Enea I Obizzi in ‘600, the residence subsequently became the property of the Imperial Austrian family.

Among the special attractions in the gardens are the Courtyard of the Giants, the Elephant Fountain and the Giardino delle Delizie (Garden of Delights), with the Fish Pond, two gigantic magnolia trees planted in the 18th century and one of the first examples of sequoia, brought to Europe from the New World.
