SEBORGA AND THE OLIVES

 

The tiny self-proclaimed Kingdom of Seborga, near Imperia (Liguria) always manages to get in the news. This time, the picturesque hilltop town of 320 inhabitants is insisting that the speciality “Taggiasca” olives were first planted in its territory, once dominated by Benedictine monks.

CUNEO CICIU FESTIVAL

 

A festival in honour of the gigantic “Ciciu” (“Puppets”) is planned for the 24-26 May at Villar San Costanzo in the Maira Valley, near Cuneo (Piedmont). The Ciciu are huge rock formations some 10m high with vaguely human forms and a unique geological phenomenon.

 Nadia Santini, chef of the restaurant “Dal Pescatore” of Runate- Canneto sull’Oglio (Mantova, Lombardia) has swept the honours this year as World’s Best Woman Chef  2013, nominated both by the British  magazine “Restaurant” and the prestigious French champagne company “Veuve Clicquot”.

 The community of San Patrignano, which helps former drug addicts and young people in difficulty to re-discover their place in society will exhibit furniture made in its carpentry department at the Milan Furniture Fair (9-18 April 2013).
