GENZANO FLOWER FESTIVAL AT TOKYO

As part of the Italian Autumn exhibition, promoted by the Italian Embassy in Japan, the town of Genzano, near Rome, Lazio, laid out a floral carpet in the centre of Tokyo. Genzano is famous for its traditional Flower Festival that marks the annual Feast of Corpus Domini. During the Festival, teams of skilled infioratori lay out intricate floral pictures made of thousands of different coloured flower petals, that cover the main street leading down from the church at the top of the town.

The Tokyo picture, representing Searching and Offering Abundance of Peace, was created with 20,000 flowers and covered an area of 90 sq.m.
