VAL BREGAGLIA FESTIVAL OF ART

Pasqua di cultura in Val Bregaglia - Svizzeramo.it

The rugged Val Bregaglia, which links Italy with Switzerland, is a little known treasure house of art. Up till the 14 April, the valley pays homage to some of the great artists who drew inspiration from the magnificent surrounding scenery, such as Giacometti, Segantini and Varlin, all of whom spent part of their lives in the area, with a series of exhibitions and conferences on their life and works.

The historic Palazzo Castelmur is to host a Video Arte project of contemporary art with video installations in June 2013. However, interested visitors can catch the preview to be presented on the 6 April 2013. Meanwhile, on the 10 April 2013, a photography exhibition from the Bregaglia archives will show the works of many international photographers, such as Anton Von Rydzewski, Eveline Hofer, Henri Cartier Bresson and Ernst Scheidegger, who all immortalized the valley through their lenses.

The Festival of the mountains would not be complete without organized excursions amongst the unspoiled nature of the valley, which inspired landscapes by Giovanni and Augusto Giacometti. The Swiss heritage is encapsuled in the exhibition by eight contemporary Swiss artists at the Rimessa Castelmur di Stampa/Coltura, while the Italian end is showing works by the Wasistdas group at Palazzo Vertemate Franchi di Piuro until the 30 April 2013.
