On the 2 June 2013, the ancient marble quarry of Ornavasso, near Verbania (Lake Como), will ring with the unforgettable verses of Dante's Divine Comedy, staged for the public within the great caverns and galleries of the stone mine that provided much of the material for the Duomo of Milan and many other important Italian monuments.

Among the other special effects, the famous illustrations of Alighieri's epic work by Gustav Dorď will be projected onto the walls of the 200 m-long tunnels.

There will be two performances, at 4 pm and 6 pm (booking obligatory).

The Divine Comedy inaugurates the summer season when the spectacular quarry will be open to visitors (until 30 September). In addition, programmes of music centred on the themes of marble and the sounds of Nature will be held throughout July and August.
