MONTERIGGIONE CASTLE SUMMER OPERA

 Monteriggioni, il borgo toscano da cui si entrava all'Inferno  

The perfectly preserved medieval Castle of Monteriggione (Tuscany) will provide a memorable natural setting for Verdi's evergreen opera La Traviata on the 2 August 2013. There will be no conventional stage but instead the singers will move around the central court and alleyways, along the castle walls and towers and on the steps of the church.

Leading roles will be sung by soprano Cristina Ferri and tenor Amedeo Moretti, accompanied by the Nuova Europa Orchestra, conducted by Simone Maria Marziali and the Ettore Bastianini Choral Union of Siena.

The Monteriggione in Lirica summer music programme begins on the 24 July  2013 with the German Jugendphilharmonie of Ludwigsburg playing a selection of Rachmaninov, David and Dvorak.

On the 29 July soprano Cristina Ferri , tenor Roberto Cresca and baritone Gabriele Spina will sing I Pagliacci, accompanied on the piano by Simone Maria Marziali. Rigoletto pays homage to Giuseppe Verdi on the 10 August and Puccini's La Boheme me rounds off the programme on the 17 August.
