Trekking Urbano, National Walkers' Day, celebrates its tenth anniversary on the 31st October 2013 in 34 Italian cities, with a series of itineraries on foot, with something for everyone at different levels of difficulty.

Siena, which initiated the event in 2002, has its own special programme, which extends over ten days, from the 25th October till the 3rd November. Especially for the occasion, the secret rooms of the Sala delle Lupe in Palazzo Pubblico will be open to visitors, as well as the Library, the Historic Archive, the Museum of Water and the Theatre Dei Rinnovati.

The participating towns are spread all over the Italian peninsula and the islands and offer a precious opportunity to enjoy scenery, works of art and monuments at a walking pace. Among the more unusual itineraries are the Ancona (Marche) walk round the areas that were bombed during the Second World War and the lost city (2-3 November), Chieti (Abruzzo) recalls its most important women, Naples will reveal its underground passages, Savignano sul Rubicone (province of Forlď-Cesena) takes walkers along the banks of the river Rubicone, with reference to Julius Caesar, Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige) a walk towards the future that leads to the most innovative Italian Science Museum (31 October - 3 November) and Urbino (Marche) that follows the footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci.
