MOLISE WINES IN SPLENDOUR

The celebrated Rome wine bar Splendor Parthenopes hosted a presentation of wines from twelve Molise cellars, promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino (Wine Tourism Movement), a non-profit association dedicated to developing tourism wine routes and vineyard visits all over Italy.

The occasion highlighted a selection of wines produced from autochthonous grapes, some of which have been brought back into production only in recent years, such as the black-skinned grape Tintilia of Molise, recently awarded DOC status. Introduced to the Campobasso area in the 18th century under the Bourbons, this tiny resilient grape can flourish at 600 m asl and is once more being cultivated by dedicated Molise vintners for its unique qualities.

Other exclusive Molise wines, such as DOC Pentro di Isernia and Biferno (named after the river that flows through the territory) were also present at the tasting and blended well with the selection of gourmet titbits from the region.

The Regional office of the Wine Tourism Movement is at Campobasso.
