ARTICHOKES GALORE

Sagra del Carciofo Romanesco - Ladispoli 17-19 aprile 2020

The seaside resort of Ladispoli (near Rome) is famous for its artichokes which thrive in the favourable conditions of the area and since they are so important for the local economy, they are suitably honoured with an annual spring festival. This year's version of the Sagra del Carciofo encompasses three events, spread over the next two weeks.

On the 31st March 2014, the Festival opens with the 17th Two-Weekly Gastronomy event, involving stand holders and local restaurants offering menus based on artichoke dishes.

The 11th April 2014 heralds in the 8th National Sapori d'Italia (Tastes of Italy) Fair.

Cultural and musical events take place during the whole period of the Ladispoli Fair, including dance performances by pupils of local dance academies, a Free Style dance and Hip Hop contest, live music concerts, a book presentation, talks on the health benefits of artichokes, a Spring Carnival with the election of Princess Etrusca and a grand firework display to end up.

Guided tours to visit the excavations at the Roman villa Marina di Palo will also be organized.

The Ladispoli Artichoke Fair celebrates its 64th edition this year. Last year, the event attracted 500,000 visitors.
