GLOBO D'ORO PRIZE 2014 FOR ITALIAN CINEMA

This year's edition of the Globo d'Oro (Golden Globe) awarded to Italian cinema by the Foreign Press association in Italy had famous actress Claudia Cardinale as the star of the evening. Cardinale was assigned the prestigious prize for her career. The prize-giving ceremony was held in the seat of the French Ambassador to Rome, Palazzo Farnese, and was attended by a great number of Italian film producers, directors, scenographers and music composers, as well as actors and actresses and journalists.

The Grand Prize of the Foreign Press went to Edoardo Winspeare for “In Grazia di Dio”, while the Best Film award was scooped by favourite “Il Capitale Umana” by Paolo Virzi. Antonio Albanese was voted Best Actor and Best Actress went to the young Sara Serraiocco. Photography was awarded to Stefano Falivene, Background Music to Aldo De Scalzi and Pivio and Best Film Script  to Pif, Michele Astori and Marco Martani.

One of the objectives of the Italian Foreign Press Golden Globe is to encourage new talents and therefore included First, Second and Third prizes for Shorts and a First Work award (won by Matteo Oleotto).  The Best Commedy Film was judged to be “Smetto Quando Voglio” by Sydney Sibilia and Best Documentary went to “The Stone River” by Giovanni Donfrancesco.

A moving tribute was also paid to the late film director Carlo Mazzacurati, whose last film, “La Sedia della Felicit�” was listed among the runners up.
