The unexpected snowfalls this winter transformed many of the Italy's most beautiful gardens into authentic winter wonderlands, even in areas where snow is a rare event.
The Most Beautiful Parks & Gardens of Italy network, which selects a winning garden every year from the list of Italy's aristocratic villas, botanical gardens and castles, has chosen thirty-three photos documenting the rare vision of trees, shrubberies and statues transformed by a soft blanket of white. The images range over parks in various regions and include views of the Botanical Garden of Bologna, the Villa Medicea (Prato), Villa Taranto (Verbania), the Venaria Reale of Turin and Rome's Bio Park (the Zoo).
