BERGAMO GAZES AT BEAUTY

Risultati immagini per mostra palma il vecchio

The city of Bergamo (Lombardy) is holding the first ever exhibition dedicated exclusively to Venetian Renaissance artist Palma il Vecchio, a contemporary of Titian's. Thirty-five of Palma's masterpieces have been gathered together in the Accademia Carrara/GAMeC and are on show until the 21st June 2015, offering an exclusive overview of the work of this undeservedly lesser known master of the Italian cinquecento.

Palma is considered to be a major interpreter of female beauty and his work had a profound influence on the image of the ideal woman of the late Renaissance.

The works in the exhibition Lo Sguardo della Bellezza (Gazing at Beauty) are on loan from some of the most important museums and galleries in the world, including the National Gallery of London, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Madrid, the Hermitage, St. Petersburg, the Kunsthistorisches Museum of Vienna, the Gemaldegalerie, Dresden, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Staatliche Museum of Berlin, as well as major Italian museumssuch as the Uffizi, Floence, the Galleria Borghese of Rome and the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice.

Bergamo Tourism Office has launched a number of events related to the exhibition, along with a series of tourism packages and tours created around the exhibition.
