Risultati immagini per casanova museum and experience

The life and secrets of Giacomo Casanova, the 18 century adventurer and libertine, are being revealed in his home town of Venice to mark the 220th anniversary of his death. The Casanova Museum and Experience exhibition is running currently at the historic Palazzo Pesaro Papafava in the Sestiere di Cannaregio district until the 22nd November 2018, when it will take off for an international tour.

The exhibition, staged by the Giacomo Casanova Foundation, sets out to give a rounded picture of Casanova's life and times, showing that he was not simply an incorrigible seducer, but also a man of culture and many abilities. He was a poet and writer, a philosopher, a diplomat and traveller, who lived for spells in many European courts. The exhibition whispers that he was also probably a mason and a secret agent.

Visitors are conducted in small groups through six rooms on the ground floor of Palazzo Pesaro Papafava, where they see hand-written documents, period costumes and memorabilia and “listen in” to conversations with eminent personages known to Casanova, such as Voltaire, Madame de Pompadour and Mozart. The tour ends in a reconstructed Casanova's bedroom with its rumpled sheets and brocade drapes, made by the famous historic revocation studio Atelier Nicolao.
