BORGHI TRIUMPH
Italy's historic little towns, known as borghi, are attracting more and more visitors. Once almost completely ignored in the regular tourism circuits, the hundreds of charming out-of-the-way hamlets and villages are now being discovered.
In 2017, the Year of the Borghi, the borghi collectively welcomed 22 million visitors, most of whom spent a night or two in their chosen place. 54.8% were foreign tourists. The trend has steadily increased over the past few years, with a registered +30.3%.between 2010 and 2017.
